Agrobacterium Conn 1942
The list here reflects the classification
and nomenclature of plant pathogenic Agrobacterium as discussed
in Holmes & Roberts (1981), Bradbury (1986) and Young et al.
(1992). The pathogenic state of strains, as `rhizogenic', `tumourigenic',
or `saprophytic' forms, is expressed at an infrasubspecific or informal
level.

Depending upon the presence or absence of
plasmids bearing tumour-inducing pathogenicity genes, strains of this
species exist in `tumourigenic', `rhizogenic', or `saprophytic' forms.

This genus comprises species previously classified
in Pseudomonas but which were distinguished by common differences
in their rRNA sequences. P. syzygii, and P. rubrisubalbicans
also share a high level of rRNA homology with the species of this
genus and may also be members of Burkholderia or a similar
genus.
